Office Project Room is proud to present “Traguardare” (“Sight”), an exhibition by Giovanni Oberti, curated by Gino Pisapia.
Oberti’s work departs from a reflection on the simple act of looking; while only seemingly simple, the act in fact opens rich possibilities for complexity. “Considering that sight became the title of this specific project conceptualized for this particular occasion, the author does not suggest the existence of one true perspective on the exhibited works, but rather an array of different possible interpretations.”
The photographic works (here a practice which the artist appropriates for this specific project), invites us “to look between, to pass through and with the gaze, to penetrate the point of view, until one surpasses the subject, in front of the image, searching for a posture capable of ascertaining the correct distance from which to do so. In fact, Oberti’s practice investigates the complex relations between the object and the observer, focusing his interests on the time, space, and emptiness that exists between the spectator and a surface.
A series of photographs, details of natural elements, creates part of a much more extensive array of images collected by the artist, showing or ratheingr attempt to demonstrate this tense relationship between parts, inviting us to have an experience with the images themselves.
